About the Role

Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, London, Belfast or Dublin.

About the Role

Key to our international growth ambition, SSE Renewables has an exciting opportunity within our Design and Delivery team in the Engineering & Innovation Directorate for a Lead Engineer to support our engineering activities across a portfolio of international wind development projects.

Key accountabilities will include:

– Driving the design and delivery of engineering scopes to meet project objectives, ensuring coherent delivery by a multi-disciplinary engineering team.

– Coordinating communication across engineering teams, other project functions, project participants, external stakeholders and senior project management. Gathering and reporting updates on progress, highlighting risks, opportunities and issues and identifying actions to address them.

– Facilitating interfaces by bringing all stakeholders together and producing actions plans.

– Supporting decision making process by working with the project team to produce robust recommendations for senior project management.

– Implementing and maintaining key design governance documents and processes. Supporting the development of Project Engineers and Graduates within the team.

– Working with our international colleagues and partners to understand local requirements and to promote, adapt and implement SSER practices in to international markets.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

– Demonstrable engineering and project management experience in offshore wind or a related industry.

– A broad and robust understanding of offshore wind farm engineering activities and challenges across project lifecycle.

– A track record in concept design engineering, optioneering studies, seabed lease auction bids and technical due diligence.

– Experience managing, collaborating and interfacing with multiple project stakeholders, 3rd party contractors, consultancies and external bodies through complex engineering projects.

– The vision to challenge the status quo and strive for continuous improvement through value engineering and the implementation of innovative solutions to deliver the next generation of offshore wind farms.

Experience in international offshore markets outside of the UK and Ireland would be beneficial.

Experience in floating wind technology would also be advantageous.

– A degree qualification in relevant engineering subject or equivalent experience in a similar role with a passion for renewable energy and knowledge of relevant governance, safety health and environment culture and engineering processes –
