ACCOUNTANT – FTC DECEMBER 2024 – HYBRID – Max of £400 per day inside

Our public sector client is looking for an fully qualified Accountant to join on a long term project.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Qualified accountant with membership of a CCAB (CIPFA/ACCA/CIMA/ICAS) professional accounting body, combined with substantial experience in a financial environment.
  • Budgeting and monitoring of capital projects (from a financial perspective)
  • Experience of accounting treatment of external funding for capital projects
  • Public sector experience

MAIN DUTIES:

  • To lead and develop the preparation of capital and treasury budgets aligned to the approved annual strategic budget, working collaboratively with budget holders to manage resources effectively and deliver services as efficiently as possible.
  • Lead the preparation of timely, accurate and relevant financial information and advice to relevant Departments, managers, and elected members.
  • To lead the development, completion and review of timely and robust financial forecasts providing robust commentaries to facilitate the decision making process and financial stewardship of resources. This will require close working with capital programme budget holders and respective Heads of Service to review expenditure provide appropriate financial forecasting and modelling; and review and appropriate challenge of financial assumptions to ensure that forecasts are based on robust and accurate information as possible.
  • Work collaboratively with Principal Accountant, Service Managers and Heads of Service to manage their resources effectively and as efficiently as possible, providing appropriate financial advice and guidance to support service delivery and facilitate any future transformational change agenda.
  • To provide excellent professional financial advice and guidance to services, ensuring information is accurate and is in line with technical finance requirements.
  • To work as a key member of the wider Finance team. This will involve leading on areas of specific areas of work which cut across all of the team, and promote the transfer of financial skills and knowledge across the team, and the ethos of continuous development and team working.
  • To provide direct line management responsibility to Finance Officers across the Corporate Finance Team.
