Chief Executive Officer

Membership Organisation

Glasgow – Hybrid with 50% WFH

Basic Salary to £90,000 + Bonus

Permanent Role, Full Time

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Business leader to take responsibility for leading, running and managing all aspects of a well-established membership organisation operating in the luxury retail sector.

The Role

The successful candidate will work with the Board Directors and Executive team to implement business strategy, plans and targets to ensure long term sustainability, through effective direction, sound finance and delivery of services.

You will also provide leadership to the Group, ensuring that the Board fulfils its responsibilities of governance whilst developing and expanding current services to ensure all members get the maximum benefit from their membership.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Work with the board to develop, agree and implement strategic plans
  • Develop strong commercial relationships with Supplier partners, looking to maximise the benefit for all parties
  • Serve as the chief spokesperson for the Group, representing it in a positive and professional manner
  • Work closely with the Chief Operating Officer to oversee the management of the office and team based in Glasgow
  • Work with the Board to agree the content and theme of annual events and work with the Chief Operating Officer to ensure successful delivery
  • Manage the relationship with the key stakeholders – both member and supplier partners
  • Take responsibility for procuring and securing contracts from suppliers and entering into contracts that provide a cost effective buying service for the members
  • Oversee the management of the overall budgets and financial resources of the Group as a whole
  • Build an inclusive culture where everyone feels valued

Knowledge and experience required

  • Solid commercial experience, with an understanding of retail and the pressures of the sector
  • Proven experience of communicating with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Strong people management skills
  • String negotiation skills
  • A confident public speaker, able to represent the organisation at internal and external events
  • Previous responsibility for budget, P & L, management of staff and commercial development
