The Opportunity.

We are looking for a Principal Cloud Architect (Azure) with experience in delivering complex cloud architectures and cloud strategies across a variety of industries.

You will provide strategic guidance and long-term vision, encompassing strategic planning and alignment with business goals whilst working closely with our clients to solve complex cloud optimisation & migration challenges. As part of your role, you will design and deliver cloud architectures and strategies which are fit for purpose, assessing the environment and constraints whilst showing a desire to challenge conventional thinking.

You will contribute to the broader architecture community through speaking engagements, publications, or participation in industry events.

Your role includes.

• Being a trusted advisor, guiding our clients towards a successful solution to their Azure challenges.
• Taking part in early engagement to help create a compelling vision for our client’s cloud optimisation and migration journeys.
• Guiding and de-risking the delivery of Azure programmes and projects, promoting working iteratively to incrementally add value. Mediating, resolving conflicts and escalating when necessary.
• Supporting cross-functional teams delivering and prototyping Azure platforms, services and products in multi-cloud, hybrid and private cloud environments.
• Helping stakeholders define both functional and non-functional requirements and ensuring solutions meet these requirements for performance, capacity, scalability, availability, security, manageability and sustainability.
• Aligning work across the client’s organisation and their cloud strategy, taking a key role in choosing appropriate Azure technologies, preparing performance and cost estimates for modelling scenarios.
• Providing expertise on privacy and information security topics ensuring our clients’ regulatory compliance.
• Providing expertise on Azure Architecture, Azure Well-Architected Framework, Landing Zone Design, Azure AD, Azure Pipelines, Azure Arc, Azure Service Fabric and Azure Kubernetes Service.
• Building capability in the architecture community and collaborating with other roles including Architects (Enterprise, Cloud, Security, Solution & Data), Cloud Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Mobile Engineers, Data Engineers, Data Analysts and Data Scientists (i.e. providing guidance, support, coaching and knowledge-sharing opportunities through internal forums and talks)
• Keeping yourself technically sharp, being open to learning new and emerging Azure technologies, approaches and paradigms such as Generative AI, Foundation Models, Mainframe Transformation and Quantum Computing.
• Leading Cloud Architect, Cloud Engineer and DevOps Engineers within your teams
• Working collaboratively with colleagues and clients, be it onsite, in the Zuhlke office, or from home.
• Travelling to various Zuhlke locations, e.g. in mainland Europe, for project work or for developing competencies across the Zuhlke group.

• Confident decision making and the ability to explain processes or choices as needed.
• Capable of articulating a technical solution and its value to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Azure experience gained as a Principal or Lead Cloud Architect across multiple programmes and projects.
• Accustomed to working in fast-paced, Agile delivery-oriented environments, with an emphasis on quality and a ‘show by doing’ approach.
• Experience of guiding, mentoring junior colleagues, supporting their growth, giving feedback and career coaching.
