When it comes to bringing the nation together at mealtimes with simple, delicious, and great tasting food we re kind of a big deal! You won t just find us in supermarkets though. As well as owning a household retail brand, our respected foodservice business works in close partnership with distributors, chefs and caterers across thousands of the country s pubs, restaurants, hospitals and schools. We have five McCain factories across the UK, including our head office in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. As well as a strong network of farmers, we also own a seed potato business in Montrose, Scotland. McCain is the UK’s largest purchaser of British potatoes, buying approximately 15% of the annual potato crop. ABOUT THE ROLE. Join our Montrose potato operation, where we oversee a yearly supply of 35,000 tonnes of seed potatoes from 60+ expert growers to 200+ ware growers. In Montrose, we’ve invested significantly in our optical grading line and upgraded our storage and grading facility. We handle and grade 10,000 tonnes of seed potatoes each season, always emphasising quality. We’re on the hunt for a Montrose team member to support our Storage and Grading Manager and collaborate with our Goods in/out Chargehand. It s your job to ensure safe and efficient potato handling and grading. As we embrace cutting-edge tech to size and sort our spuds, we need someone to lead the charge in the running and preventative maintenance of our grading line. While machines may hiccup occasionally, we believe in preventive action. We want you to be at the forefront, monitoring machine performance and devising better ways to boost reliability, quality, and efficiency. ABOUT YOU: If you’re tech-savvy, unafraid of a dynamic setting, and ready to get your hands dirty, you’re our ideal candidate. Dive into the operation, seek continuous improvement, and excel as a clear and confident communicator in our close-knit, ambitious team. You should also possess: • Minimum 12 months’ experience in a similar role or environment, dealing with machinery and technology (essential). • The ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels, both in-house and with our growers (essential). • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and familiarity with Windows-based software (essential). • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, thriving in a fast-paced business (essential). • A strong commitment to Health & Safety, sharing our belief that safety is non-negotiable (essential). • A full UK driving license (essential). • IOSH/NEBOSH certificate (desirable). • A Forklift Truck license for potential holiday or sickness cover (desirable). • Knowledge of seed potato handling and grading (desirable).
