JOB DESCRIPTION RURAL SKILLS TUTOR, GREEN ROUTES STIRLING Reporting to: Gargunnock Garden Manager, Green Routes Purpose of job To deliver training in horticulture, woodworking and animal husbandry to students with additional support needs as part of Green Routes overall objective of providing high quality training and work experience to young adults with additional support needs in order that they gain employment or otherwise realise their potential and become equipped to make positive contributions to their communities. Responsibilities 1. To be responsible for producing Individual Learning Plans in horticulture and woodwork for students with a variety of difficulties and varying levels of ability and delivering these. 2. To prepare learning materials including session plans, schemes of work and handouts 3. To assist in completing assessments, reviews, and various documents as required by the funding bodies. 4. To deliver Health and Safety training and awareness to students in compliance with current legislation and new legal requirements. Ensure that all Training programmes, i.e. practical and directed, take place in a safe environment and that students have the appropriate material, tools and equipment to carry out their training, and that these are in safe working order. Carry out risk assessments on/off site for different activities carried out by the learners. 5. To maintain tools and equipment in a safe working order. 6. To maintain stock levels as appropriate (i.e. compost, fertiliser, plants etc.) 7. To participate in a weekend on call rota with other staff to support, if necessary, the young people looking after livestock. Experience and knowledge required 1. Significant previous experience of delivering horticulture and woodwork training. 2. Knowledge of animal husbandry 3. Knowledge of health and safety requirements. 4. A relevant teaching qualification is a desirable requirement. Ability to work successfully and flexibly alongside a wide range of other staff and volunteers. Effective problem solving and interpersonal skills. Personal Development 1. To participate in personal development, one to ones, appraisal interviews as required and to maintain personal professional expertise and knowledge at the highest possible level. 2. To participate in any training courses identified by Line Manager to further develop skills. 3. To maintain records of CPD development in accordance with internal and external standards
