At Babcock we are working to create a safe and secure world together and if you join us as, you can play your part as a Technical Compliance Engineer within our Infrastructure team at HMNB Clyde, near Helensburgh.

The role

We are looking for a time-served engineer to contribute to the monitoring & reporting of high-risk tasks and activities across HMNB Clyde in order to support a collective compliance monitoring programme, in support of achieving full site compliance, promoting safe working attitudes and practices in accordance with company Purpose & Principles, relevant regulations, MOD mandatory policy and industry best practice.

Day to day you’ll provide professional engineering support to operational areas and MOD departments in areas such as Fire Risk Management, Building Services and Mechanical and Electrical Engineering depending on your engineering background.

Support the active monitoring programme by field activity monitoring and creating compliance reports of high-risk tasks in areas as directed by the Principal Engineer.
Support monitoring of changes to legislation, standards, safety alerts, technical guidance relevant to HMNB Clyde operation.
With support of Babcock L&D, continually develop competence from exposure to a wide variety of subject matter to provide advice and guidance to operational departments, contractors and project teams across HMNB Clyde.

This role is full time and offers a flexible, hybrid working arrangement; 2/3 days working onsite at HMNB Clyde and the remainder from home (dependantant on the needs of the business).

Essential Experience of the Technical Compliance Engineer:

A background in design, maintenance, inspection or testing of one or more of the following areas;
Working at height
Confined spaces
Lifting Equipment maintenance & inspection
Pressure systems
Gas systems
Electrical testing
Dangerous substances & explosives atmospheres
Fire risk management
Building maintenance
IOSH Risk management / IOSH Managing Safely qualified and have operational experience with one or more subject areas described within key results area.
The post holder will be expected to develop a broad knowledge of the management of high risk activities and asset best practice in a highly regulated, high-hazard industrial workplace as described above.

Qualifications for the Technical Compliance Enginer

HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services, Fire Management)

The successful candidate will hold, or be able to achieve SC level security clearance for this role
