Job Description Role: Agricultural Inspector Location: Field based – Grangemouth Company vehicle provided As an Agriculture Inspector, you will measure and sample grains, oilseeds, feeds, liquids, and other agricultural commodities, and deliver a range of services including damage surveys, draft surveys, loading & discharge supervision, and sampling analysis. Samples will then be evaluated for the presence of contaminants, pesticides, and other quality and safety indicators. You ll conduct surveys in accordance to defined international guidelines and prepare independent survey reports, considering key factors. You can expect to be working on-site at client warehouses, silos, or port terminals and will cover a range of locations throughout Scotland. When you need to attend the office, you will be based in our Grangemouth facility, but spend the majority of your time out in the field where you will complete your inspection activities and reports remotely via a company laptop. The role of Inspector can be physically demanding and will involve working at heights, in confined spaces, and potentially on vessels at sea. SGS will provide the appropriate training, coaching, and mentoring, along with correct equipment and PPE to ensure you safely perform in the role to the best of your ability. Due to the nature of the business, the role of Inspector will require flexibility with hours of work to fit with shipping/tide times and therefore we operate an annual hour’s pattern. Qualifications Experience of inspection and sampling activities conducted in accordance with quality procedures and to international standards including AIC and GAFTA Previous experience consulting directly with clients to coordinate operations or resolve queries. Good computer skills including Outlook, Word, and Excel Valid driving license for use in the UK Effective communication, teamwork, and time management skills Ability to work to tight and sometimes conflicting deadlines to meet customer requirements.
