Join our Power Transmission & Distribution team as a Quality Manager to be based in the Argyll & Bute Region and you’ll be part of our legacy. As a Quality Manager you will be supporting / managing the quality function of the business on the building of three new Substations in the Argyll & Bute Region, supporting our Substation colleagues to deliver ‘Right First Time – Every time’ quality projects to our clients. To be a member of the Project Leadership Team, and provide functional leadership to Project quality resources. To be the Project based quality expert practitioner to provide specialist support and a network of quality skills to support project delivery. To support delivery of efficiency targets and financial savings throughout the Project, in line with the Project plan. What you’ll be doing To ensure the Project plans are in place for delivering Products and Services right first time, and to meet requirements every time, build to last and to drive Right First Time, the Elimination of Waste and reduce the Cost of Quality through: – Providing leadership to deliver the project, SBU and Balfour Beatty quality strategies. Ensuring that all Projects produce Quality Management Plan(s) and associated processes that deliver right first time, and handover deliverables to project specification and requirements; Establishing quality related training, coaching & skills processes so that the project team and supply chain understands and manages the delivery of the projects quality requirements Ensuring the Project processes meet or exceed the requirements of the BMS and the Gated Business Lifecycle, and that any amendments are clearly stated in the Project Quality Plan Ensuring any projects systems are in place that allows the required specification to be clearly agreed and delivered Ensuring processes are in place that enable appropriate inspection and test plans to be planned, agreed, managed and fully executed Establish and manage structured assurance and audit programme and activities to ensure that the Business and Project requirements are being met. Ensuring Balfour Beatty UK, specific SBU and Project Quality related KPIs and metrics are in place that drive Right First Time, management decision making and continuous improvement Supporting the delivery of Project and Business Stream quality programs and actions Manage document control to secure progressive assurance through project records Supporting the establishment of Right First Time continuous improvement culture Undertaking specific investigations and root cause analysis to drive structured improvement actions. Ensuring compliance to relevant ISO and other standards. Representing the project / business on external quality related activities Producing appropriate project quality reports and management information Living the Balfour Beatty Values. Who we’re looking for The ability to provide leadership. Build strong relationships with delivery teams and project managers. Substantial practical experience in quality management in construction or manufacturing. The ability to coach and develop staff in key quality management skills and build a quality management framework & KPI measurement. Demonstrated root cause analysis and problem resolution capability. A formal qualification in Quality Management e.g. Diploma in Quality Management (UK Chartered Quality Institute, British Standards Institute or equivalent) Preferably trained ISO 9001 Lead Auditor and/or Internal Auditor A CQI Practitioner or working towards membership Has an ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts. Pays attention to detail and sees things through to completion. Can deliver reports orally and written in an objective and persuasive manner. Has good interpersonal and communication skills and acts in an independent and professional manner with the ability to influence others including senior management. Is a self-starter who manages their own time and seeks to add value to their function. Has an enquiring and questioning approach to audit work. Can work within a multi-discipline team. Able to command respect across the project Can build relationships and can influence effectively. Can demonstrate initiative and resilience.
