Senior Systems Administrator/Infrastructure Engineer required for a well-known Medical Software company in Edinburgh.

The company

They have been around for over 20 years, and have doubled in headcount over the last 3 years or so. The business operate across the medical technology industry and focus on the US market largely. They have recently gone through a great period of growth and have, as such, almost doubled their software operations in the UK.

The business is split between the UK and US, with all of their clients and partners based in the US. In this role, you will be working on a market leading, bleeding-edge product that is the flagship product of the business (and has been so for 20+ years). This is a pivotal role to the business, and you will be working alongside a number of key members of the organisation.

The office in Edinburgh operates across a hybrid model (2 days in the office), and look for facetime with their colleagues for 40% of the week.

The role

This is a crucial role for the company, and you’ll be directly reporting into the CIO. Working amongst the senior team and Architecture, you will be focusing on VMWare, Disaster Recovery and Hyperware. They have specialist network Architects, so this won’t need to be your focus. You will be joining 2 other Architects/Senior Engineers and working on Storage, Hypervisors and a fair amount of Azure cloud.

A lot of the Architecture and complexity has already been decided and is in place, so you will need to be quite technical in order to complete the ‘do-ing’. You’ll work alongside some very strong technical individuals and it really is a strong technical Environment – very cloud driven and dynamic.

Skills required

* Responsible for server hardware configuration and provisioning to provide a secure and performant compute platform

* Maintaining security and integrity of network infrastructure and services such that unauthorised activity can be recognised and prevented

* Managing secure and resilient datacentres to support products and internal services

* Identifying issues proactively and take any corrective actions necessary to sustain the environment

* Assisting with the resolution of unusual or escalated customer service issues related to datacentre and network services to ensure that any disruption is minimised

* Responding in a timely manner to datacentre and network issues in order to maintain a highly available service to the business

* Developing and maintaining relationships with technical colleagues working in Engineering, allowing closer collaboration

* Reviewing and recommending new technologies with the aim of improving existing services

Tech environment:

* Veeam

* SCCM, Solarwinds/LANSweeper

* Azure Hybrid – M365, Azure AD SSO/Duo SSO Defender, Purview

* Windows Server Orchestration/management/config

* Powershell for automation, Ansible or Chef or similar a bonus

* Windows AD Migration and management

* VMware (many)/HyperV (one cluster) SCVMM & VCenter

* Horizon VDI

* AOVPN/NPS/Radius

* SANs: PureStorage, PowerMax, Unity, Compellent

* MS SQL management (not coding)

* Both Juniper and Cisco networking kit
