Job Description

A tech for good company in Edinburgh is looking for a Front End-focused JavaScript Developer to join their team. They’ve not been around for that long but have built a unique platform that helps people to reduce their carbon footprint.

The company have a small development team already and are now looking for their next Developer. They have already partnered with a lot of impressive businesses across the UK and have recently made some significant upgrades to the platform.

What will I be doing?

Great question!

First and foremost, they are looking for a JavaScript Developer, so you’ll be expected to work across the Full Stack given the current size of the development team. Saying that, they are looking for someone that leans more towards the Front End. Your role will be to maintain and add new features to their platform as they continue to grow.

Who am I?

They work with React on the Front End and Node.js on the Back End and are ideally looking for experience with both. They are working mainly with TypeScript, so TypeScript experience is pretty essential too. Their platform is hosted on AWS, so any experience or exposure to this would be a big plus for them.

Due to the current size of the development team, they are looking for someone that has a decent amount of commercial experience behind them, so are ideally looking at mid-level or senior-level.

In terms of background, they are very flexible although any experience working in a product-focused start-up environment would help you hit the ground running a bit quicker.

Who will I be working with?

As mentioned, you’ll work very closely with the rest of the development team, as well as their UX Designer, Product Manager and CTO. Everyone is happy to bounce ideas off each other and really get stuck into each project that they have. There won’t be any shying away in this role due to the size of the team so you should be someone that likes to put their ideas and opinions forward!

The company’s senior team are very experienced too and are great to work under.

What are the benefits and where will I be based?

The company have office spots across Edinburgh City Centre and are ideally looking for someone to be able to meetup a couple times per week, although this isn’t a necessity. They have a budget of up to around £65,000 for someone that is at more senior level.
