Overview / Responsibilities
Wood, Power Solutions UK have a requirement for a Commercial Manager.
Key Objective:
- Provide leadership, management, supervision and guidance to support delivery of the Commercial Management activities within Wood’s Power Solutions UK (PSUK) business.

Ensure effective commercial management of all project activities in accordance with relevant Wood commercial policies and procedures.

Support Operations Directors and Project Managers to achieve budgets and deliver the financial targets associated with delivery of their portfolio (OHL / Cabling as appropriate).
Main Responsibilities:
- Maintain and promote a safe working environment and demonstrate positive HSE behaviours and leadership.
- Provide the Operations Director and delivery teams with pro-active commercial support and lead delivery of commercial strategies.
- Ensure effective post contract commercial management of the relevant framework, contract or project in accordance with Wood’s commercial policies and procedures.
- Develop relationships with key client personnel and lead Wood’s support with regards to the client’s project sanction process.
- Bring focus to key execution risks and ensure robust mitigation plans are developed and implemented.
- Ensure commercial entitlement is pursued and obtained in accordance with the terms of the contracts.
- Manage commercial resources deployed on projects and ensure appropriate training and development is provided.
- Ensure that any necessary contractual notices are served in accordance with the terms of each contract.
- Develop and implement effective negotiating strategies with respect to contractual matters and issues.
Skills / Qualifications
The Commercial Manager must have good communication skills, with the drive to lead in the delivery of Wood core values and commercial processes and procedures in an ethical manner. Have sound knowledge of commercial management processes and procedures.
Qualifications:
- University graduate or above in Quantity Surveying or an Engineering discipline.
- Membership of a professional institution (eg RICS) desirable but not essential
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- Experience in quantity surveying roles
- Experience in commercial management roles
- Experience of direct client interface working including negotiation, claims and dispute resolution.
- Transmission and Distribution Experience
- Experience in portfolio / framework management roles
