Accountant – Finance Manager – Urgent new role for a charity based in Edinburgh. Starting asap, min 3 months Full time, office based initially, then hybrid. Client Details My client is a well established charity based in Edinburgh. Description We are looking for someone to manage our finances. Our turnover is approx. £2.5m per year and following the excellent financial stewardship of our incumbent prior to and during the pandemic, my client is now in a strong place to develop and excel. We need someone who is strategic, values drive and with a great eye for detail to take that forward. The right candidate has strong values which compliment our values and have an interest in the services we provide. They will work efficiently and be able to manage and input to multiple change programmes, taking a holistic view. Leading a finance team of 2, you will be responsible for: operational financial planning, including preparing annual budgets and forecasts; managing reserves, assets and investments; and preparing year end accounts. Devise budgets, plans and controls to support the implementation and monitoring of the Strategic Plan. Ensure timely, clear and accurate governance and management of financial reports Lead, manage, review and improve financial policies, processes and procedures and to ensure: their accuracy, simplicity and compliance to manage risk. Lead and manage the finance team to ensure they maintain high quality standards. Support teams across the charity to play their role in prudent financial management. Monitor and mitigate risks to the finances Inform, analyse and support the development of the charity’s To develop key messages and lead on creating and maintaining appropriate and consistent language and terminology across all income streams. To keep up-to-date on best practice within the charity sector generally and particularly changes to communications innovation, legislation and codes of practice to do with finance and social enterprise. To work with managers to support their understanding of their budgets and their reporting requirements.Profile Ideally coming for the charity sector, you will have: A recognised accountancy qualification (e.g. ICAS / ICAEW, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA) Significant background of financial management at a senior level in the voluntary sector Strong financial and commercial acumen. Knowledge of the preparation of management accounts and year end accounts and of financial forecasting Knowledge of putting together and managing budgets with multiple stakeholders.
