Head of Finance – Law FirmEdinburgh Salary NegotiableOur client is a prestigious and well-established law firm located in the heart of Edinburgh. With a rich history and a commitment to excellence, they have been serving their clients with dedication and integrity for many years. They are now seeking a Finance Manager to join their team and play a pivotal role in managing their financial operations.As a Finance Manager, you will oversee and manage the day-to-day financial operations within the finance department. We are looking for an individual with either Legal Accounts experience or a background in Professional Services accounting who can lead a team, maintain a strong control environment, and ensure compliance with financial regulations and legislation.Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the finance department, including payroll, purchase ledger, credit control, and Cash room.
  • Manage and monitor a team of 5 finance department staff.
  • Liaise with external services for tax preparation, audit, banking, and other financial needs as necessary.
  • Track the company’s financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement.
  • Maintain a strong control environment to ensure financial risk to the company is minimised.
  • Provide information and expectations to Partners to aid with the Budget process and other decision-making.
  • Review financial data and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Prepare Financial and Analytical information for Partner meetings.
  • Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes.
  • Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company.
  • Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field desirable but NOT essential.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CA) is preferred but NOT essential as experience is the key requirement.
  • Proven experience in Legal accounting or a Professional Services accounting background is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of financial software and tools.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance.

This role is based at offices in Edinburgh and therefore you should be located within easy commuting distance to Edinburgh. The role after an initial period of training may allow for some remote work but the majority of the time this will be office based. The salary for this role is negotiable based on experience.
